With reference to Sir R.Welby's letter of the 23rd June 1888 No: 10171/88 relative to the issue of Retired Pi

Pay to honorary Major General A.H.A Gordon while holding the

appointment of Superintendent of Victoria Gaol,Hong Kong, I

am directed by the Secretary of State for War to acquaint you, for the information of the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury, that Major General Gordon has been transferred, with effect from the lat November last, to appointment of Captain Superintendent of Police at Hong Kong, in respect of which he receives a Salary of 6000 Dollars per annum with free quarters, and that, in accord- of the ance with Rule No: 13 of the Rules under Section 6 Superannuation Act, 1887, instructions have been given for the issue of his Retired Pay to be continued, notwithstand-

ing his present employment.
